Volunteers will be expected to check-in at the volunteer area by 6:00 am on race day. They will then attend an information session to receive assignments and t-shirts.  All volunteers get to run for free during the last wave!

Possible Assignments

Set Up: This area will include pre-race volunteers and day-of race volunteers. They will assist in the set up of course, the start and finish line, registration, spectator, and post-race areas, and the awards ceremony.

Traffic/Parking: These volunteers will direct traffic and assist participants in parking areas. UNG Police will be available.

Greeter: Greeters will be familiar with all aspects of the race. They will be placed at the entrance, registration, and throughout the course area in order to provide quality customer service.
The Participant Liaison will instruct these volunteers on how to help participants who ask questions, as well as those who do not, but seem to need assistance. These volunteers will also help the event team create an exciting environment.

Registration Table: Here, volunteers will assist our Registration Coordinator in runner
check-in and day-of registration.

Course or Obstacle Monitor: Course monitors will be directing racers while cheering them on. At least obstacle monitor will be placed at each obstacle. They will be present to ensure participant safety and, if asked, assistance. Obstacle monitors will be required to document any assistance given and the number of the participant assisted.

Water Station Attendant: Attendants will man water stations placed at specific points on the course. They will also encourage racers.

Duck Dash and Little Duck Dash Course Monitor: Monitors will maintain a safe environment while cheering on Little Muddy Ducks.

Finish Line Assistant: Our team will need help with finish line logistics. This may include assisting Dirty Spokes. We will assign volunteers to Dirty Spokes as needed.

Finish Line Cheerleader: It is important to create an exciting environment for finishers. This helps ensure the participants are satisfied with their experience.

Post-Race Attendant: Attendants will assist with post-race food and participant satisfaction. They will create an upbeat environment and congratulate runners to ensure a hospitable experience.

Contest Assistant: After the race, we plan to have a duck-decorating contest. These volunteers will assist team in counting votes and awarding winners.

Awards Ceremony Assistant: Assistants will help team in any aspect of the awards ceremony. This may include setting up area, distributing awards, and congratulating winners.

Post Race Breakdown: We will need as many volunteers as possible for this assignment. If possible, each volunteer will be assigned to this area as well as another task during the race. Volunteers will assist event team and UNG staff breakdown, pack, and load any and every thing Muddy Duck.
